Dublin's Carla Rowe hoping Mick Bohan remains with Jackies
Dublin's two-goal hero Carla Rowe feels it would be a huge disappointment if manager Mick Bohan left to take the reins at Roscommon. Rowe netted twice in Dublin's 3-11 to 1-12 victory over Cork in the All-Ireland Final last Sunday as Bohan's side brough home a second consevutive All-Ireland trophy. The Clann Mhurie woman understands Bohan would be a great get for the Rossies to take over from Kevin McStay - but hopes he would rather stay with the Jackies. "Mick Bohan is a brilliant manager and he has played a massive part in helping us to win the last two All-Irelands," Rowe told the Irish Mirror ."But I can well understand the Roscommon County Board being interested in trying to get Mick in as manager of their men’s team. His attention to detail and his ability to analyse opposing teams is remarkable, and, as well, the emphasis he has put on all the players trying to get as comfortable as possible on both feet has been a huge plus for us since he came in as manager towards the end of 2016."
An 18 hole stroke play weekend took place on the 22nd & 23rd September at Strokestown Golf Club. Thomas Skelly came first on 66, John Compton came in second 73 along with Martin Kelly.
JP’s The Man
This week saw businessman and racehorse owner, JP McManus, donate €3.2 million to the GAA. Every county board in the country is set to receive €100,000 thanks to the selfless gesture by Mr Mcmanus which comes on the back of Limerick’s All-Ireland senior hurling victory. JP McManus has been a long-time sponsor of Limerick’s intercounty sides but has now donated more than €3 million equally across the 32 counties. Roscommon county board secretary Brian Carroll explained that the only condition set by JP McManus is that the “monies be divided evenly” between each club. The only action for county boards now shall be circulating the funding to the clubs in their counties.
